Traditionally, the way most people think of Thanksgiving, they see the holiday as either a religious day where they give thanks to God for their plenty, as a day to see family and friends and feast with them, simply as 'Turkey Day' or as a day to watch football... or perhaps all of the above. However, in addition to these things, ever since I was a young kid in school learning about the tradition and history of Thanksgiving I have also always thought of it as a day that represents the understanding and tolerance of other cultures, a day where people of widely differing beliefs could come together in peace and in celebration of their friendship and hard work together throughout the year. Legend has it that the Pilgrims who held the first Thanksgiving did so right alongside with the Native Americans of the area. You are probably well aware of the first Thanksgiving and how the Pilgrims and the Indians go together and gave thanks for the bountiful harvest. That was in 1621. However, the first Thanksgiving did not lead to a traditional holiday and certainly not to a national one since the nation didn’t exactly exist. It did play a role, however, in what would come. Eventually Thanksgiving began being celebrated more and more as the country grew and people wanted to give thanks. A real American Thanksgiving was first celebrated by the entire country just after the Revolutionary War. But still, it was not a national holiday. Then, when Abraham Lincoln was in office he declared the last Thursday of November Thanksgiving Day in 1863. That is when it finally became a national holiday. Every president since Lincoln has also declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. Today, we all look forward to Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday season. We celebrate friends, family, and prosperity and thank God for His blessings. Many families have different takes and traditions for Thanksgiving, but the overall theme is a family meal and giving thanks for all of life’s blessings. I am thankful for everything that I have in my life. I think that everyone has something or someone to be thankful for. At first I did not really understand the meaning of thanksgiving until I researched and found information about it. In my opinion everyone has a different story of how thanksgiving originally started I do know it involved the pilgrims and natives and now our generation just helps it continue to let it grow I am thankful that it even became a holiday.

For our next essay it is an Annotated Bibliography assignment. What this basically is about an article (each of us were given two) and just summarizing it up and our evaluation based on the articles that were given. With a partner we had to create a draft plan. First my partner and I were given an article read it and summarizing it up. We did not get done but we were both able to get to the point of the article. Each of us was also given a paper that discussed about the guidelines and based upon the Annotated Bibliography essay. To me the assignment that we had to do was pretty hard only because I have never really done an essay such as this one before. I think my partner and I both had a little trouble with it. With the help of our instructor the assignment turned out to be understanding in different ways. Everything did happen pretty quickly. First we read the guidelines will help each of us only because it is so different from any other essay. Then the assignment we had to do. I got it but did not really understand that will I will manage to in some way.

Today our instructor was not in class. I did do the assignment which was bringing the complete draft of the essay. I think I did screw it up though only because of the fact I did not bother reading it before turning it in. I was just concentrating on turning in the draft on time based upon the fact that I turn everything in late. I would not know how to describe the days experience only because we did not have class. I will talk about my draft and how I think I messed up on it and what I should have done. The part I know I did not do right was the body part. This is where it contains and discusses about both websites only in a certain order. I know I did not really put anything in order the way it was supposed to go and that is my fault. I would worry about it but not so much because I think to me it turned out to be ok. Not the way I wanted but I guess I will see what happens when I receive my grade. In my opinion it would have been more helpful to have one more day to see how the papers sound before turning them in.

My draft was finally complete and now I had to get feedback on it from my classmates in the writing center. What we did was read aloud each of our drafts. Some were partially completed but just had to fix the mistakes that were on the draft. I was part of a three member group myself included and sat in a circle. The first person to go within my group had a nice clean draft but had to improve on giving full sentences. I did not really want to but I had to be critical it is not to be mean but it helps each of us make our essay better. The next person did not really have that many mistakes to me everything sounded ok. Last was my paper. I read it aloud it and it happened to loose both my team members concentration based upon the fact they said it seemed so long. I did however make mistakes. My problem was that I kept using first persons. So I received the feedback which in my opinion improved my draft. I did go to the writing center before doing this assignment. I went in with nothing just what was inside of my head. I got down everything and received my tutor’s feedback as well. We both figured out the differences on both of the websites. My thesis was created and I figured out a way on how to get started. The only thing I did not like was that when we discussed my draft I got two different types of feedback. One was good and one was sort of bad. The bad feedback was from my class. My sentences were to long and the other following reason I listed before. The good feedback was from my tutor of course I would think it would be good only because in my opinion tutors say what they think sounds good. Which it does in some ways but I was still confused. Even though I had my tutor it was sort of a bad vibe only because I knew she kind of made faces because I was more of a myspace fan than facebook. The way I think of the feedback helped not only me but each of our drafts. If I would not have gotten the feedback I know my essay would have been screwed up but thanks to the writing center and my fellow students it would not be so messed up.

The thesis and draft plan for my essay had to be created. What the thesis is basically the lat sentence of the introduction saying what the essay is going to be about. The thesis that I had to create was on myspace and facebook two social networking websites. This time I did not have that much trouble creating my thesis because I had done it before and knew what needed to be suspected. My tutor helped me with the thesis I had already wrote it down and got her opinion on it which turned out pretty good on my part. The draft plan of my essay was not the way I expected it. I got to the point but did not have a way of making it look like the way I wanted it to. There were mistakes that I had made but I was able to see them along with my group member’s help. I did what I had to for the sake of my essay. I got threw and did my draft well at least I created a plan for it. The plan really helped me out a lot so that was the good thing I got out of it.

Today’s experience came in handy. The worksheet helped me focus on what and how my essay should be formed. What I did was made two lists. One of myspace and the other of facebook. I had put down the similarities and differences about both of the websites. What this did was give me a way of improving and more reasons of enhancing my paper. At first I did not really know how to get started because I got sort of confused on the assignment. The worksheet itself had a layout of where everything such as the body that contains the three main paragraphs, conclusion, and the introduction. All of this is what should be contained inside of the empty boxes. What my paper needed was a certain way of how it should look like. For instance my essay is based upon both websites and their differences. Both websites should be talked about in the introduction. The three body paragraphs should go in order talking about the differences for instance myspace, facebook, myspace and then the conclusion. I think that this worksheet really helped out a lot even when I had went to the writing center it was very helpful because I knew how to get started.

“Colleges Scan Facebook.” Students did surveys and preferred that other student should be careful of what they post about themselves on their profiles. Now college’s admissions such as NACAC look and search students before accepting them or giving them scholarships. Research shows that students live off a different social life in the online world than the outside world. In my opinion it’s a vaid of privacy then again it is not because people are ignorant to post pictures and say how they got drunk over the weekend. I can understand why school boards do this but then again why should our other life matter. “Jury out on Facebooks.” Contradicts feel that social networks have an affect on student’s grades today. It has been proven students that use facebook addicted have the lowest grades in class. Students checked their myspace more than what they check their email sent from instructors. Students who are addicted to these social websites are more than likely to get a bad grade. Networking is the new entertainment or should I say people rather go on myspace than watch television. “Facebook Sparks Suspicion.” Social networks and how couples find out how true their boyfriends/girlfriends are. It is simple they just look them up on websites and see how they interact differently around their partner. You can see pictures or read comment boxes and some relationships do not last long because of this. For example I saw pictures of my ex boyfriends profile I was in shock so it didn’t work out because the accusations were true and disturbing. Researchers find this as one of the main reasons why relationships do not last long. Social networking has a major impact on people’s lives. “Does Facebook Replace Time or Enhance it.” It is amazing how people find a partner in the virtual world. People can interact with others from faraway states or countries. You can swap pictures and messages other than wasting money on long distant calls. Many find this a better way to keep in contact with others socially. I think that these social networks do have an effect on people’s lives but it’s the way that some of us keep in touch. Not everyone owns a phone and we can’t always see someone that we like this is the best way of doing it. I think it does enhance time in many ways because before you would have to send out messages threw a telegram thing or send out a messenger boy but now that technology has grown gave us more ways to see things.

“Killing us softly 3” Is one of the videos our group (#2) had to present. It focuses on this woman talking about how advertising portrays women and men and the way they stereotypically look at them For example men are featured in ads being tall, muscular, active, and violent. Women are beautiful, skinny, and young. The woman that’s presented in this video says were not trying to change the ads but the way they do them and the attitudes that they give. “Dove Evolution” shows an average woman with no make-up and no fixed hair just a plain Jane. Then out nowhere you see people and how they transform her into someone beautiful they change everything of how she looked before. Afterwards her pictures that were taken of her are being photo shopped the photographer makes her shoulders and whole face slimmer and the way her face looked before looks nothing like what they put upon the billboard. “Dove Onslaught” is the third video that features a little girl in the beginning. Then in a flash you see all these types of ads and commercials of women. It shows some getting surgery, being on diet pills, and all these ways people want us women to look. At the end of the video it says talk to your daughter before dove does. In my opinion it makes clear sense. “Brazilian Obesity” In Brazil your use to seeing beautiful tanned women. The rate has gone up however in obesity and it is just continuing to grow more and more. Half of the adults in Brazil are obese. These types of body figures seem to cause anxiety. Malta was offended when someone wrote an article that said, “Brazilians were getting fatter” Malta became more offended when the media said she was a Brazilian-hating heretic. It’s not so much Brazil but obesity has become a worldwide phenomenon. Brazil now faces a sick and expensive future. “Health & Fitness; Snip, Suction, stretch and truss.” Cosmetic surgery has gone up in the past decades. Millions of Americans get surgery more than ever. Now people both women and men are worried about there presence the ages range from 30-40. Dermatologist say people only look older from the face due to sun exposure. Some people have nice bodies but always seem to find something wrong with their face. Instead of loosing weight the healthy way people rather get liposuction. It went from nose jobs to silicone and now liposuction. Who knows what’s next maybe the eyebrows.

“An anthropological introduction to youtube” by Mike Wesch was the youtube video our class had to watch. As I started watching it I found it interesting how everything was put into a power point. I didn’t think it was to boring more of an awakening how youtube got started. It’s amazing how it took a short period of time which was 6 months for the website to be so huge and with only three males starting it by just a little video camera. Everyday people just like you and me post up videos and everyone who has access to youtube can watch anything and anyone they can. It is funny how you see other people imitating others and it’s not that there trying to make fun of them there making those people more famous by getting others to listen to their music. This allows us to connect ourselves in ways we never done before and express who we are threw global communications on the webcam. It is interesting how you can connect and talk to other people across the globe and threw other countries and actually talk to them rather than paying a huge amount of money by using a phone. Every time someone blogs about a video it scores a point for that particular video and makes the rankings go higher for the ranking system. There is commercials that take millions to make while people rather use youtube without a cost and still manage to get the top video watched. The videos go through so many different types of websites that it actually makes the video and that normal person become a somewhat of a star. Mike Wesch thinks of media as mediate human relationships. Everything has changed throughout time on how we talk to each other. Before there would be a little type writer thing to send out messages to soldiers that were fighting during wars and there were also messenger boys that would give orders. I find all of this as a way our intelligence has changed and the way we think and come up with new and better ways of thinking.

I didn’t go to class on October 9th but I still did the assignment. I went to the writing center for the tutoring session. What happened during the session was first to me it didn’t go very well as I thought it would. My tutor was late so that took some time out of my session. When we got started I was having trouble on how to get started even though I had all the information that I needed. I didn’t know how to find my thesis plus I always have trouble on that part whenever I’m doing my essays. My tutor did help me however by finding the thesis so that was helpful. Before finding the thesis I explained the assignment and what needed to be done. I even showed the vlog that I picked out that way my tutor can get an idea of who my essay was going to be about and based on. He told me that after watching the vlog not even half way threw that I don’t really have anything to work with and suggested I should pick another one out. I didn’t want to change it so I stuck with the one I had because there was no point in changing it if the essay was due two days later. After I decided that we began typing in what should be put into the paper. Basically it was an outline I thought it would have come out as something different or more. That was one of the parts of my session I didn’t like plus half of how everything went. However what did help me out a little was the outline but it only had somewhat of what needed to be put into my essay the rest wasn’t even part of what I had to do. What I wish would’ve been different is the draft and outline. Next time I want to make sure I have all the information I need before I walk out of the writing center. I take some responsibility even though I had my rough draft and ideas it still wasn’t enough. Maybe next time everything will go better for my next essay.

Pandora and LastFM were music sites I never seen or heard of before. Pandora was probably the one I liked the most from both of the sites. The only part I did not really like doing was the part was we had to register before creating a playlist. I have heard and used other sites such as dogpile and myplaylist to create a music list. Pandora allows you to see the different types of genres of music and you can even create your own station which is pretty awesome to me. LastFM was really slow and I think other students and I were having trouble on finding what we wanted to find. For instance it was slow and every time I would put a name of a certain song I wanted to hear it would lead me to another type of band that was almost like the one I wanted to hear first. There were some similarities between Pandora and LastFM. They are both music websites, they both wanted you to register before going onto their websites which was pretty weird to me because like I said I don’t really like signing up for websites if I know I am just going to use the once or twice. The other similarities were that both of them had all types of music they had everything that anyone could listen to. There are other similarities but I can not really think of them so that is my fault. Along with the common things there are differences. One of them that I noticed right away was that LastFm was slower than Pandora. Like I said earlier I was having trouble with it so that wasn’t cool. I did not really get enough information on LastFM so I can’t really say anything about it. Except for the fact it did not get me to where I wanted to get. Every time I would click for a song all it would say was error or something else. I wouldn’t recommend LastFM but I would be sure to use Pandora and recommend it better than the other one. I know I would use Pandora more than once or twice instead of using other sites that I have been using.

What we did in class on October 2nd was we had to create a timeline for our descriptive essay which is the one were we had to write about the vlog that we had chosen. The timeline has about five parts to it sometimes six depending how long you want your paper to me it is better if it is a six paragraph paper just for the fact that it is longer. The beginning that explains what the introduction is going to be about including the thesis statement. The second part of the timeline will talk about the first paragraph which concludes the first part of the vlog. In the middle line will be about what was going on during middle of the vlog. Then the fourth line will discuss the third paragraph. Last the fifth paragraph also known as the conclusion. The timeline can include feelings like what the person or what I was feeling during the time of watching the vlog, emotions could be what was the emotional feeling the vlogger felt or what looked like they felt, sound (noises that you can hear in the background), background for example the person can be talking and while they are talking you just notice a big picture frame behind them. The background is also who the vlogger is basically what you do is describe what they look and sound like. This helped me plan my essay in many ways because first of all I didn’t really know how to get started on this essay even people that worked at the writing center couldn’t understand the assignment. The timeline helped me put everything in order and what needed to be filled out in those areas. I never thought it would have been so helpful but it did really get me what I needed to for me essay because I can not really break everything down even if I wanted to I just have trouble doing it. I think it would have helped me if we had more examples of what had to be done such as getting the story and breaking it down into parts. Other than that I did get some answers to my questions.

When we were first told to comment on each others blog I was thinking to myself oh no I don’t really like when others read what I wrote only my instructor because I get afraid of what they might think. When I started to read other students blogs I started to get comfortable with everyone reading mine because all of us have different thoughts, ideas, and opinions that each of us have. I felt that my blogs would be to boring or get to a point that no one would want to read or comment on them. Then there was one part were I thought it was funny because I’m not the only one who hasn’t completed their blogs and there were some that I could find similarities to my blogs because I feel that everyone wants feedback on what they are writing about because to some of us we think that what we write isn’t good enough. I also feel that commenting on each others blogs helped each of us out one way or the other. There were blogs that I had done where I had asked for opinions or suggestions on some of the assignments. I know I need the help on what I am doing.

Our class was assigned to choose a vlog to write about for our descriptive essay. At first I didn’t know what a vlog was till our instructor explained it. To me it is just like blogging except the vlogger talks about themselves through a webcam instead of typing it all down which is probably an easier way to talk about you. The vlog I have chosen to write about is about this 19 year old, Caucasian blonde, hair blue eyed male named Tyler Oakley. I picked this one out because to me it was interesting, not to boring, and pretty funny. However there is a point during the video where he does not know what to talk about so he just starts talking about random things such as buying glasses that make him feel like Kanye West. Then there is the part where Tyler lists his movie collection movies like Mean Girls, Sister Hood of the Traveling pants, and Legally Blonde. In the beginning he talks about how he got started on doing his first vlog. He likes being called the “other Tyler” since there is another famous man named Tyler Oakley who happens to be one of the inspirations on why he got started on vlogging. Another inspiration to him is D cool W just because of watching his vlog seemed real interesting to him. Tyler also talks about his background for example where he works and lives. He lives with his grandparents and works at starbucks from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. I think that is ridiculous if someone works at that time because I myself am not a morning person and wouldn’t be able to do that. Personally I think it is weird to do a vlog because your giving out information about who you are threw millions of people you don’t even know. Then again that is just my opinion. Dome people like to blog and some people like to vlog but I think vlogging is the new blogging.

On September 16th I believe I was absent that day Even though I was I did the assignment that our class was required to do which was creating a thesis and a draft plan for our email etiquette essay. What I found difficult was at first I had no idea what a thesis really was. I heard of it but never really used it in any assignments, so I was kind of lost. A thesis statement is the ending sentence of the first paragraph or introduction of the essay that gives what your paper is going to be mainly about. It was good I had my book it really helped out a lot. The part that I also found difficult was at the time I couldn’t really stay focus on the main topic. I kept writing the same thing over and over. I really have trouble elaborating and making the essay seem longer without repeating anything that I have already said. I think I am getting a hang of it though such as putting more detail into one little sentence. Other than having trouble with all of that my draft kind of went ok. What I did first before I started my draft was I got another piece of paper and started writing down ideas that would pop up in my head it is easier for me to do it that way. After that I typed out my first draft it didn’t work out that good so I had rewritten it on a piece of paper. Will just say it went better than the draft. What I thought went well was the middle of my essay. Everything that I had put into my idea paper started to blend in with everything else. It was a good idea that I had did that and the thesis had also helped out, because whenever I was about to get off topic I would go back and look at my thesis so it helped me stay on topic.

Guidelines for email etiquette essay

Our class was given a sheet of paper that gives out guidelines and ways that our email etiquette essay should be and what it must have on it. The essay that we have to write about will be a fake email complaining about a bad grade. The email format should be MLA double spaced. There are things in the paper that we should not say such as this email is about, I believe, and I will tell you it’s like who wants to read that it’s not going to make much sense. When you’re typing out your essay it is best to not write like if your texting to someone even though to some of us it is much easier. Using the appropriate language that the instructor will understand is very helpful. The email should be two to three develop paragraphs but three is better but I like doing four just to let you know. The paragraphs should also have a thesis statement to help the reader understand what he/she understands what they are reading about. For the ending paragraph it’s not good to say things like in conclusion or finally because the paper won’t sound good. The last thing is revision that paper shouldn’t have any type of typos, complete sentences, avoiding slang and sentence fragments, checking punctuation, and just making sure to stay on topic. Each group was supposed to create a thesis and a draft plan for the essay. Since I missed class I wasn’t able to do the required assignment and for that I take full responsibility. Even though I was not in class I did create a thesis for my draft and a plan for it. I didn’t get to go to the computer room so I can’t really write about the experience I’m sorry Mrs. Crawford I will try to do better.

Internet Dating

My group team number two have discussed about internet dating. Each of us talked about different articles of the same subject. The article that I had chose to do was about the “Dating Detectives” and it goes a little something like this. Match-making in India is set in a traditional way like many other countries and cultures. Everyone who wants love has someone chosen for them. Someone that will fit that certain person’s expectation and whom is more like them. However a man names Sharma from India came from a middle class area so he began dating someone online. He met this girl on a matrimonial site. The girl was basically everything he wanted. They’ve been chatting online for some time and have met each other on and off. He was not to sure though if she was the true person she proclaims herself as. Sharma decided to go to a Globe Group which is a detective agency. They helped him find out more about the woman whom he been chatting to. It turns out that she was meeting another man in hotels. Sharma confronted her and said that it was over. From then on he would go to the detective agency before meeting or chatting with anyone else. The detective business has been increasingly growing over the past year. The government has proposed a Private detective Agency’s Bill. It regulates the industry but also sets minimum qualifications and training standards. Personally what I think is that in a way this is good because it is true you don’t really know who you’re talking to and it would be helpful to find out who that person really is. Then again everyone’s lives are confidential so it is better just to be straightforward say who they really are instead of lying.

Chapters five and six

Group one had presented about chapters five and six. The fifth chapter was discussing about examples of paragraphs at glance. An example paragraph has three basic parts which are a topic sentence, supporting details, and a concluding sentence or sentences. The topic sentence is the first sentence of the paragraph. An example would be good health is built each day by making healthy lifestyle choices. That sentence is one of the major details of the story. Another word for major details would be supporting details. These details consist of one or more examples. The examples are used of specific facts and details that make the examples clear and interesting. The third basic part of the example paragraph is the concluding sentence. This sentence emphasizes the point of the paragraph. The fifth chapter also talks about prewriting before you write. There are techniques that you can use that can make a good paper. Brainstorming and free writing are probably the best things to do. When you brainstorm you think about what you’re going to write before you write it and free writing is just writing any ides that pop in your head. After revising and editing the first draft you can make your final draft. Chapter six is about narration. The narration has the same three parts as the paragraphs at glance. The narration gives more detail about whom and what is behind the scenes such as the actors, actions, and the outcome. Reading critically is a search for the characteristics of effective writing. Before turning in your paper it is best to get a professionals idea and get advice on how better the paper can be. Criticism may sound bad but it is better to tell the truth than getting a bad grade or having one of the worst papers ever.

Where Phones in Class are Ok

This article is talking about whether or not teachers should allow their students to use their cell phones in class. To me there are two sides to choose from both good and bad. In one part of the article the author says that the more you get after the student the more they would rebel and use them. It is a distraction but then what if someone in class has an emergency and their phones are off then what will happen then. I think they should be allowed but be on silent and the students should have a contact that will automatically show emergency when the light goes off then show it to the teacher so they would be able to take it. If they were allowed maybe it will be better because it’s not going to help if they keep taking them away if they are going to get them back by the end of the day. At the same time they need to set rules and boundaries. It isn’t going to help if they don’t allow them because the student can always hide it. Having phones does have its bad factors to it. It is a distraction for the ones who do want to learn. Someone can be texting next to them and they are going to look and see what than person is doing instead of listening to an important part of a lecture. Then the ones who are using the phones it is their fault if they fail the class because they chose to text instead of paying attention. Cell phones are probably never going to go away it is just a invention you can’t get rid of just like the car it is always going to be there and they will keep getting better and more upgraded than today and students are just going to keep using them.

Should Schools Be Wired to the Internet

I don’t know if schools should be wired to the internet. Then again everything we look and research for we can always look it up on the computer. I think everyone should know about computers and get more involved with them because it would be something positive to do for our schools. Some of us are very fortunate to have computers so it is good for everyone to take advantage of them while they can. I think it is also going to help the economy because it’s going to be for a good cause that the schools will be using them and at the same time more companies can get money out of it. I also think that it is better to learn everything you can about the internet and computers at a young age especially for the younger kids who are still in elementary school so they would not have to take that many computer classes as they get older. It is better to know now than later. If the younger kids would have to take a computer class when they get older at least they would pass the class from learning what they did. I feel bad though for the poor countries who don’t even know what a computer is but then again we can’t just force them to start using computers some people prefer to use pen and pencil. Other updated schools such as the ones in Japan use more technology than what we do and in my opinion I think there smarter and it would be good if we use what they do that way we can know more except for the fact that they have school everyday for ten hours then that would suck. Al Gore is right everyone should be born with a mouse attached to their hand with the computer already in front of them.

Reading,Writing,Iphoning

This article discusses about how students from Abilene Christian University will be getting iphones or ipod touches. There not the only school that will be using technical devices other schools across the country will be receiving something. They think that students will benefit there learning from this and that it will help out for class discussions, lectures, and attendance. There are rules though for these devices. Such as if the student were to choose an iPhone they will have to pay a monthly bill which sounds dumb to me because if the school is giving you something they want you to use why should the student have to pay for it. The other rule was if the student were to end their school year before the end of the term they would have to pay a charge for it. To me this new idea has good and bad reasons why they should and should not be used. The good reasons would be that it can educate students and help them out whenever they are stuck on problem or need help finding something and it will probably take a little weight off the teacher’s shoulders. The bad reasons would be because it is a distraction. There is already rules made to not have phones on during class and how would the teacher know whether the student is on it when they are not suppose to be there is not a big button for them to turn off their students phones. It is if we know that our phones go off automatically we want to look at them same thing for an instant message on a computer we want to look at it right away because that is the way our brains function. The ipods and iphone are both a good and a bad way for students to learn.

This article was about a debate from David Crystal who supposely thinks how texting has changed the language of our generation. He thinks that txtn is the reason for the cause of dyslexia, poor spelling and makes people lazy. In my opinion people who have dyslexia are born with it can't get it from texting if that is the way they came out. It is just something that people started doing. I think it is good that we text because it is writing everyday just talking about our thoughts to someone else it's letting us express how we feel and getting everything out. When we spell were using abbreviations but that doesn't mean we don't know how to spell some of us are the best writers and just happen to like texting. It doesn't make everyone lazy either that is just the way our generation likes to communicate. I think the more we text the better we get at writing. I don't think this changes our literacy skills there is people who are illiterate and the only way they know how to write is by texting. That is probably why it's called the gr8 db8 because it goes both ways.

Assignments,groups,and class discussion

Today’s subject really helped me get right back on track because I don’t want to lie but I was kind of lost. I think it’s better now that we have a syllabus so we can know what is going to be going on and what will be doing through out the semester. Now I know what the blog is suppose to look like when we send it out. I think that the discussion really helped all of us. The group that I’m in I first of all I feel it is good that were working in groups I think we learn from and can help each other out. I would’ve felt uncomfortable if we were working as individuals. I also like that when were going to talk in front of the class we don’t have to go up alone because if we did I would be so nervous. I like my group and everyone that is in it I feel like we can accomplish at what were trying to get at. The assignments are not that hard as I thought they would be its just writing a lot that gets to me but its English and hopefully it will help out in the long run. I also like what were going to be doing because it’s not a boring class were actually doing stuff that interests us well in my opinion. The only thing that I don’t like is the blogging I just feel like sometimes it’s too much words but hey whatever helps me pass the class I’ll be willing to do it. The rest of the work that were going to do like the articles I like that because it talks about what’s going on and what’s happening know and all the issues that we still have to deal with today.

Hey friend you remember that assignment that we were working on for reading class. Well it turns out I got a 65 can you believe that I mean you were right there when I was doing my work. I put so much effort into it I still can’t believe it. I’m not mad at the teacher just mad at myself. I could’ve done better and put more time into my work. Now just this one grade can affect my entire average. I think it’s because I’m not use to doing homework I mean you remember high school we hardly did any kind of homework. Maybe because I wasn’t concentrating but I don’t really think it wasn’t so much that or maybe it was because I was in such a rush to getting it done I didn’t even think about it. This is probably one of the lowest grades I have ever gotten I’m so used to getting good grades I didn’t even get at least a 70 and I was only 5 points away to making it. I think it’s best if I study alone no offence to you but it’s just to see if it’s really that and I also need to see if I will focus more with nothing around and I need to do something good that will help me clear out my head so I won’t be thinking about everything at once. If that doesn’t work then maybe I need to get some kind of tutoring so I think I’m just going to try out both things and see what is best for me. Just wish we would have been given more time then again its college you have to expect the unexpected. Every day we always get some kind of assignment but I’m going to try hard to not fail and prove that one grade isn’t going to bring me down.

Writing Process

A writing process is a neat step by step process that people use when their doing a paper. Most of the techniques I still use from what I learned in high school. In my opinion though I think the longer the paper the better the grade or even if someone uses these steps. Before I even start to write my paper the first thing I do is look at my topic sentence and I start to brainstorm of what I’ going to write about. After I’m done brainstorming I start to write just what I can think of on paper but I like putting ideas and making little notes on the side and it doesn’t matter if I write on that same paper because I’m just prewriting this means thinking and writing before you actual write the real paper. When I put all my ideas together also known as drafting my ideas starts to form the first paragraph. When ever I write a paper I like to put 8-10 sentences and at least a quote or two in each paragraph. The third step is revising which is adding or taking out whatever doesn’t look right. It’s best to do this and I think it’s one of the main steps to a good paper. After that the editing which is looking over everything and making sure that the grammar and usage is all right and checking over each sentence. It’s good to have everything right so the readers can understand you and your story. It’s also good to stay on topic and not get off subject. The last step is reflection. After the writing is done you want to know what others think and where you ha0ve to make improvements on so it’s just the readers input on what needs to be worked on.

How technology is used in my life

Technology has always been used ever since caveman where here. It may not sound like it but how did they come about them making cooking tools or daily weapons to hunt. Everything that we use on daily basis is based on technology. I myself even use it almost everyday. Such as the computer, watching television, and even using the pencil to write with. It's something that we need to know because sooner or later everything is going to be about technology. Everyday someone comes up with a new or better idea. The flying car is already made the people who invented it just need to figure out how people can use them and where they can. Technology isn't just something that will ever go away it's always going to be there even for the simplest things . Anybody can invent anything but I guess it's up to the people if they want to use that person's idea or not.
